“I’ve had a crazy time recently and now I see a straight run and I really want to make the most of it”
Surprisingly, I’ve had three conversations start this way today.
It’s not the most unusual statement for people to come out with, but somewhat unusual for it to happen on three calls in a row!
I’m not going to lie, sometimes I’m a little skeptical when people say it. It can be the start of an all-or-nothing conversation and there’s a faint eye roll and wonder of how it will pan out.
In these cases, I felt so amped up by the end.
What made me even more up for it was how susceptible to small changes and a more holistic approach they were. We didn’t just talk about food choices. In fact, we barely talked about food choices.
We talked about how:
Access to food could be made easier and therefore more consistent
Stress levels could be more consistently managed
Daily steps could be increased on to support mental and physical results
The common theme across these? Consistent steps. Small changes, each day over a period of three months.
We talked about how the freezer could be loaded up for convenience in advance of work madness.
We reviewed the options of increased gym time and favoured the option to just put shoes on and get out for a walk instead of adding extra barriers to motivation.
We discussed possible and common obstacles to success.
We debated how small things that bring pleasure could and would be included in life consistently. Debated in that they said no chocolate or alcohol would be fine and I said “no”.
If you’re struggling to make a start or stay on top of progress, then look at your consistent habits. Are there many of them? Could there be more?
Talk to me, what’s the biggest challenge in daily and weekly life? Let’s start breaking that down now!
